The Specified Skilled Worker (S.S.W) Visa is a type of work visa introduced to address labor shortages in specific sectors within countries such as Japan. It is designed for foreign nationals who possess a certain level of expertise and practical skills in designated fields.
🔹 Main Features:
Allows mid-level skilled workers to work in designated industries such as nursing care, construction, hospitality, agriculture, food service, shipbuilding, and more.
Applicants must pass two tests:
Skills proficiency test relevant to their field
Basic Japanese language test (or equivalent qualification)
The visa is divided into two categories:
Type 1 (SSW-1): Allows foreign workers to stay up to 5 years. Family accompaniment is not allowed.
Type 2 (SSW-2): Intended for more experienced workers with advanced skills. It allows longer stays, family sponsorship, and the possibility of permanent residency.
